Weekly Update

Sunday, October 14 – Sunday, October 21

Operation Christmas Child
Collection of items for Operation Christmas Child is underway!  Please stop by the board in the narthex and take some of the yellow slips and go shopping for the items listed to fill the shoeboxes.  Remember your items have to be small enough to fit easily in a shoebox.  Place your items in the marked bin in the narthex no later than Sunday, November 4th.  We will be packing the shoeboxes on Sunday, November 11th, during Sunday School at 9:30 a.m.  We do not need any more shoeboxes.

New Member Inquiry Class
A New Member Inquiry Class will be held on Sunday, October 14th, at noon.  Lunch will be served.  If you are interested in joining our congregation or just want more information about Christ the King, please join us for pizza and conversation.

11:00 a.m. Sunday Adult Class
Join us beginning at 11:00 on October 14th in the Conference Room as we begin a new series A Clash of the Kingdoms by Ray Vanderlaan.  Come fellowship with us!

Calling all Men who Love to Sing!
On Sunday, November 11th (Veterans Day), the CTK choir will present an anthem that is set for male voices only at the 9:30 service, to recognize all the men and women in our congregation who have served or are presently serving our country in the Armed Services.  Any and all men are invited to join the Wednesday, November 7th, rehearsal at 7:00 p.m. to prepare for that Sunday service.  What a great way to honor those who have served our county!  Please sign up in the church narthex so we can plan for your attendance.

Reformation Picnic
The Reformation Picnic will be held Sunday, October 28th, immediately following the 11:00 service.  The church will provide the hot dogs and hamburgers.  Please see the sheet in the narthex to sign up to bring side dishes.

Saturday Sacks are Back
In our community Jesus is represented by Christ the King Lutheran Church when it comes to feeding children who don’t have resources for healthy eating.  We join with other churches and agencies in the area to supply “Saturday Sacks” at the end of each week so at-risk children will have nutritional meals on weekends.  Our assigned school is Lakeside Middle, and your Choir handles the preparation of the Saturday Sacks during the school year as part of their outreach.  The Pantry helps us by supplying some of the resources, but the balance is provided by your giving. Please consider an ongoing or one-time gift of any amount to the Saturday Sacks ministry.

GED Classes
A Christian-based, compassionate, GED tutoring program takes place every Monday and Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. until noon, and now every Tuesday and Thursday evening, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Mosaic United Methodist Church.  Anyone interested can simply show up at Mosaic one of those times to begin.

Use of Facilities
If you are planning an event or meeting here at the church, please be sure to contact the church office by phone or email to be sure that the space is available.  This will also insure that all meetings and events are put on the calendar to avoid any conflicts.

Flower Chart
The Flower Chart for 2018 is up.  Please sign up to provide flowers for the altar in 2018.  The cost is $40.
