Traditional Worship at Christ the King

Reverent, hymn-centered worship rooted in Scripture, liturgy, and the rich musical heritage of the Church.

“Christ the King Lutheran Church is the 'singingest' church in Augusta. The opportunities to praise and glorify God are woven into the fabric of the service. The music here seeks to give thanks, express joy and sorrow, and encourage spiritual growth.”

Stephen Hansen - Choir Director

Traditional Worship

At Christ the King, traditional worship is not an outdated practice — it is a living expression of our faith. Each Sunday at 8:45 a.m., we gather around Scripture, hymnody, and liturgy to lift our voices together in praise to God.

We believe congregational singing is one of the Church’s greatest gifts. Through hymns, prayers, and shared responses, we worship as one body — united across generations and rooted in the historic practices of the Lutheran tradition.

Our traditional service is reverent, music-rich, and welcoming. Whether you were raised in liturgical worship or are exploring it for the first time, you are invited to join us as we glorify God together.

Stephen brings musical excellence to the choir at Christ the King. With a heart for Christ and a deep love for congregational song, he leads worship that is joyful, reverent, and rooted in the Church’s musical tradition. Under his direction, the choir supports worship not as performance, but as prayer — offered for the glory of God. Stephen has served as Choir Director since 2017.

Lisa brings a lifetime of musical training and experience to worship at Christ the King.  Her playing supports congregational singing with sensitivity, depth, and joy, reminding us that the organ is not a relic of the past, but a living voice of the Church. Through her gifts, worshippers are invited to listen, sing, and encounter God more deeply.
