Weekly Update

Sunday, August 12 – Sunday, August 19

Sunday Adult Class
How do you live in a culture where the worldview conflicts with Christianity?  Does this sound like our world in 2018?  Beginning Sunday, September 9th, at 9:15 a.m. in the Conference Room, we will learn how to meet the challenges of our culture from the apostle Paul, as he presents his beliefs to the most powerful court in Athens and settles among the Greco-Romans of Corinth, who valued wealth and class, worship of multiple gods, and decadent pleasure above all else.  To preview Paul’s time in Athens and Corinth, read Acts 17:16 to 18:17.  Be with us as Ray Vander Laan leads us with his newest dvd, Cultures In Conflict!

CTK Meal Ministry
Help us share love with members and friends of CTK as they face life trials and transitions such as an illness, surgery, new baby, caregiver fatigue, etc.  Click here for more information on how you can help.  Currently, we are providing meals for Dennis and Carolyn Ziegler.  You can follow this link to sign up on line:

Steeple Survey
The motion to add a steeple to the current Christ the King Lutheran Church building has recently been introduced.  What do you think about this?  There have been two options presented, and these prospective samples are currently mounted on the white sandwich board in the Narthex.  Please review these pictures, and respond to the survey on-line.  Follow this link, https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CVBXD7V, to be taken to the survey, or scan the QR code in the narthex with your mobile device to access the survey.

Saturday Sacks are Back
In our community Jesus is represented by Christ the King Lutheran Church when it comes to feeding children who don’t have resources for healthy eating.  We join with other churches and agencies in the area to supply “Saturday Sacks” at the end of each week so at-risk children will have nutritional meals on weekends.  Our assigned school is Lakeside Middle, and your Choir handles the preparation of the Saturday Sacks during the school year as part of their outreach.  The Pantry helps us by supplying some of the resources, but the balance is provided by your giving.  Please consider an ongoing or one-time gift of any amount to the Saturday Sacks ministry.

GED Teachers/Assistants Needed
The Mosaic Center is looking for anyone interested in teaching/assisting with their GED program.  There are two sessions; a morning session on Monday/Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon, and an evening session on Tuesday/Thursday from 6-8 p.m.  Help is needed with both sessions, but especially for the evening classes.  Please see Kevin, or contact Mark Niklinski at 706-825-7214, mark@mosaicumc.org.

Use of Facilities
If you are planning an event or meeting here at the church, please be sure to contact
the church office by phone or email to be sure that the space is available.  This will
also insure that all meetings and events are put on the calendar to avoid any conflicts.

The Flower Chart for 2018 is up.  Please sign up to provide flowers for the altar in 2018.  The cost is $40.
