G12 – Blessed to Be a Blessing

G12 is a reference to Genesis chapter 12 where God proclaims to Abram that he will be blessed and the world will be blessed through him. This theme, that God expects His people to be a blessing to others, is found throughout scripture. In response to this call we hope to develop a new ministry which we are calling G12.

A G12 team is any group of people in our congregation who would like to reach out to others with God’s love in very practical ways. The process will be fairly simple:

1. Identify a need –You may have an elderly neighbor who needs help with yard work or an unemployed friend who needs some simple home repairs attended to. If your gift is auto repair you might offer free oil changes to single moms or sponsor a day of fishing at the lake for inner city kids. You may want to pass out blankets to the homeless or food to the hungry - the possibilities are limitless.

2. Organize your team – find people who are willing to help you share your blessings.

3. Contact the church office and let us know the Who, What and When of your service project. Also let us know what help you will need in terms of planning, advertising, materials and finances. Our hope is to establish a fund to be used for this purpose.

4. Fill out a G12 request and planning sheet available in the Church office.

5. Go and be a blessing to others by working, praying and caring for those God has called us to serve.

6. Be a blessing to us by sharing your experience on a Sunday morning or in a newsletter article.

God has blessed us greatly and we hope that all the saints at Christ the King Lutheran will join us as we experience the joy that comes when we share those blessings with others.
