News from Christ the King Lutheran Church

Weekly Update

Sunday, October 28 – Sunday, November 4

The time changes Sunday, November 4th.  Be sure you set your clocks back next Saturday when you go to bed so you will be on time for church!

Reformation Picnic
Join us immediately following the 11:00 service for an afternoon of good food, fun, and fellowship.  Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided.  Bring your favorite side dish or dessert.

Congregational Meeting
There will be a Congregational Meeting on Sunday, November 11th, after the 11:00 service.  The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss calling our current intern as a full-time associate pastor and to discuss current and anticipated needs in our building facilities.

Operation Christmas Child
Collection of items for Operation Christmas Child is underway!  Please place your items in the marked bin in the narthex no later than Sunday, November 4th.  We will be packing the shoeboxes on Sunday, November 11th, during Sunday School at 9:30 a.m.  We do not need shoeboxes.

9:15 a.m. Sunday Adult Class
In the region of Galilee, Jesus revealed the power of God’s Kingdom and his role as King. The “good news” sent ripples through Israel – stirring the hearts of new followers and challenging the rule of an empire.  Be with us at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 28th, in the Conference Room,  when we start the new series, The Mission of Jesus, by Ray Vander Laan. Bring a friend!

Calling all Men who Love to Sing!
On Sunday, November 11th (Veterans Day), the CTK choir will present an anthem that is set for male voices only at the 9:30 service, to recognize all the men and women in our congregation who have served or are presently serving our country in the Armed Services.  Any and all men are invited to join the Wednesday, November 7th, rehearsal at 7:00 p.m. to prepare for that Sunday service.  What a great way to honor those who have served our county!  Please sign up in the church narthex so we can plan for your attendance.

Saturday Sacks are Back
In our community Jesus is represented by Christ the King Lutheran Church when it comes to feeding children who don’t have resources for healthy eating.  We join with other churches and agencies in the area to supply “Saturday Sacks” at the end of each week so at-risk children will have nutritional meals on weekends.  Our assigned school is Lakeside Middle, and your Choir handles the preparation of the Saturday Sacks during the school year as part of their outreach.  The Pantry helps us by supplying some of the resources, but the balance is provided by your giving. Please consider an ongoing or one-time gift of any amount to the Saturday Sacks ministry.

GED Classes
A Christian-based, compassionate, GED tutoring program takes place every Monday and Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. until noon, and now every Tuesday and Thursday evening, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Mosaic United Methodist Church.  Anyone interested can simply show up at Mosaic one of those times to begin.

Use of Facilities
If you are planning an event or meeting here at the church, please be sure to contact the church office by phone or email to be sure that the space is available.  This will also insure that all meetings and events are put on the calendar to avoid any conflicts.

Join us beginning at 11:00 on October 14th in the Conference Room as we begin a new series A Clash of the Kingdoms by Ray Vanderlaan.  Come fellowship with us!

Reformation Picnic
The Reformation Picnic will be held Sunday, October 28th, immediately following the 11:00 service.  The church will provide the hot dogs and hamburgers.  Please see the sheet in the narthex to sign up to bring side dishes.

Dennis and Carolyn Ziegler

CTK Meal Ministry

Please help us continue to encourage Dennis and Carolyn Ziegler with visits and meals during September.  Thanks to the meals that were delivered in August, the Zieglers have been reminded that God loves them and their church family does too.  As Carolyn continues her journey to mobility and Dennis faces his own upcoming surgery, let’s continue to keep them close to our hearts through our prayers and our actions.

Please use the link below to learn more and sign up or use the paper sign up in the narthex the next time you’re at church.  Note:  We are now doing “light” meals such as soups and salads.
